so CLASSES

ELEMENTARY JAPANESE I (MWTRF, 9:00-9:50)
japanese is painfully easy right now because we're going over kana and greetings and stuff i already know, but it's going pretty fast so i get the feeling i'll miss the easiness soon enough. for now, though, i'm really grateful i already know kana because AAAAAAAA TWENTY A DAY AAAAAAAAA.

DRAWING I (MW, 10:00-12:30)
exactly the type of standard art class i've always hated, charcoal and gesture drawing and all that stuff. but i actually don't mind it! probably helps that joe is in the class with me, though i think it's mostly because i've made up my mind to improve and draw more which means making sure i get through the class. i also like the professor, who is also my faculty advisor.

HISTORY OF WORLD CINEMA TO THE 1960S (MW, 13:10-16:30)
film is cool and totally different from anything i've ever done, since i've never done anything film-related before. i'm not too interested in film history but since wesleyan supposedly has an amazing film department, i kind of want to check it out and this was one of the prereqs. watched his girl friday and a lot of old stuff. also my first lecture-style class (EVER, i think) which can be kind of distracting with my netbook;;; love the professor he is awesome

FOUNDATIONS OF CONTEMPORARY PSYCHOLOGY (TR, 10:30-11:50)
i just found out that i can actually place out of this class with last year's ap credit, but i probably won't since my high school psych class had an awful teacher and nobody learned anything and i'm pretty sure i only did well on the ap because of the curve, since i do remember leaving about half of it blank. i also already payed for my textbook ffffff. joe and angela and ethan and melissa are also in the class which doesn't hurt.

new skype: cyborgviking! i also got a new laptop so i finally have a working webcam and mic and everything (also video games)! i named it leonidas.

went to [livejournal.com profile] nanaryuu's house friday for the last time before we all leave. ben and kyandre were there and we played like five bajillion rounds of timesplitters and then went to sazan while meowing uncontrollably. still feels kind of strange that we won't be seeing each other every day anymore.

thinking of doing artist alley next year at nyaf. i'll probably be looking to share a table so LET ME KNOW IF YOU'D BE INTERESTED though since it's still over a year away i won't worry too much about that yet. more concerned about finishing some stuff that'll actually sell like bleach, hetalia, ff, pokemon... if you have an requests of REALLY POPULAR SERIES or other stuff you think would sell well, let me know and i might use some ideas.

I DON'T KNOW WHY IT TAKES ME SO LONG TO POST PICTURES

anyway, if anyone's interested, here's my two week late photo dump. i actually cut down the number/size from facebook, so if you want to see all of them there's more there. it's still RIDICULOUSLY IMAGE HEAVY, though, so be warned.

spent all of monday getting from hong kong to sapporo. had a fun time getting around since i'm the only person who speaks a word of japanese (and that's... not very much...), but luckily i picked the right person to ask for directions. she probably spoke like five words of english but she was ridiculously nice and helped us for like twenty minutes finding the taxi stand and directing the driver to the right address and waving us off as we drove away.

my mom did all the vacation planning so we had no idea where we were staying. she really likes the whole backpacking tourists thing so we ended up staying at a hostel even though we have like 100kg of luggage or something and i also don't think families usually stay at hostels. i like it, though -- it's fun meeting other people and the whole place is really chill and feels more like a home than a hotel would.

tuesday we went to some really touristy ramen shop for lunch, then walked around the city for most of the day. after being in hong kong/china it's really nice to have some cool weather fffff. went to a shopping arcade, stopped by a game center and watched some of the crazy intense gamers. played time crisis 4 with my brother, a few rhythm games, street fighter... went to a few other souvenir shops and other stuff and bought a few things.

after we got to the end of the mall we walked towards this park that was on our map thing and there were like five beer gardens in a row so my mom stopped and got some sapporo beer. my brother and i played in the kids park, which had like a water park and ridiculously epic slides and my brother doesn't like japan anymore because it's "too cool for america." i got takoyaki. all you can eat lamb for dinner and one of the waiters looked like an asian evgeni plushenko.

took a taxi to book-off where i bought some artbooks and mugen no juunin. walked back to the hostel where i sat around in the living for a couple hours watching some tv drama with/secretly doodling portraits of the hosts.

today we took a train to otaru. everything is melon flavored. there's some character thing that's in all the shops and is basically a creepy-face marimo with a hard on and i bought a cd. i wanted to go see the marimo in hokkaido but it's too far. :( basically walked around and looked at lots of shops the whole day. stopped by various places for lunch and dinner, really good food. we bought a melon!

going to tokyo tomorrow afternoon. we'll be staying in ikebukuro so i guess i should watch out for flying vending machines.

went to visit chong qing for a couple days. my grandparents are originally from there, so there was a lot of MEETING DISTANT RELATIVES which gets really awkward since i'm not so good with chinese etiquette/hospitality, not to mention i don't speak chinese. the result: lots of leftover food on the table because they HAVE to bring us something to eat even if we say we're not hungry (and if they see the grapes haven't been touched, that's their cue to bring out watermelon), lots of standing around awkwardly because my mom told me not to let them carry our bags for us but they won't let go of my backpack even though i'm ALREADY WEARING IT, lots of TACKLING EACH OTHER to decide who'll pay the check (and then sneaking away to secretly pay it when the other person thinks they've won), and other interesting... things...

i think i'm too used to hong kong and the EXTREME AIR CONDITIONING everywhere. i'm not too great with heat in general so i just kind of died in china since nobody likes acs. i guess i should look forward to japan -- apparently there are over sixty people DEAD from the heat wave.

so we were walking around and my dad was like "oh that restaurant over there serves bunnies" and i'm like "lol i want to try eating bunnies" so for lunch yesterday we ordered bunnies. if you don't know, in some chinese restaurants, if you order fish they'll bring the live fish over before they kill it so you can check if it's fresh and healthy and the right size and stuff. so we're sitting there and the chef brings over a LIVE BUNNY and asks what we think of it and she's holding the BUNNY by the ears and it's a BUNNY and it looks at us with SAD BUNNY EYES and my parents freak out and we cancel the order. later we buy some bunny jerky from a street vendor. (i actually still want to try fresh bunny but i think my mom was too traumatized)

ANYWAY back in hong kong and the usual bla bla bla i should post more bla bla bla. i think i'm just not in the habit. i have too many things to say, they just flash through my mind so quickly and i can only catch like one or two to pin down and write about. going to japan in a few days, looking forward to seeing reo again.

everything is good in hong kong. my brother says if you take something good in new york and multiply the goodness by ten, that's what you get in hong kong. everything smells good, too. like -- even if you go outside and smell all the smoke and gasoline and crap, it still smells GOOD because it's HONG KONG. i'm not biased.

rained a lot yesterday and apparently there's a typhoon warning level three out, though, so we'll probably just be mall-hopping until things calm down enough to walk around (which i'm also totally fine with because it's hong kong). inception comes out here on the 29th so i might see it before i go hahaha.

Rules? Hah! Who needs rules? They merely prevent you from doing your own thing, right? Down with the MAN!

Wow. I wasn't aware that you had access to OKCupid! in prison. And if you're not behind bars, all signs say you're well on your way there in the near future.

You love taking risks. You love the adrenaline rush of extreme sports. You love taking action. Generally, anything that's idiotic, you're in. Wanna light yourself on fire and dive from a 500 metre high cliff into shark-infested waters? I'll write your name down.

However, you do need a lot of alone time because that's when you can finally sort things out in your mind most clearly.

If it wasn't for your analytical and logical skills, I'd vouch that you didn't have a brain at all. The fact that you do have a brain merely means that the likelihood of you being a criminal has just gone up.

Thankfully, you're most probably a good athlete, which will help when running away from the police. If not, prison doesn't seem too far away from you at all.

Just please... stay far away from me.

I HAD TO GO BACK AND FIX THE SPELLING ON THIS ENTRY LIKE FIVE TIMES i am really tired. i'd been planning on staying up all night since i hadn't packed yet and had some other things i wanted to finish but then there was the park event (apparently >700 kids came, wow) and i walked like twenty blocks to [livejournal.com profile] ketsune's house in HEAT WARNING WEATHER and then we went to flushing and walked around some more and ate noodles and did purikura so i don't have much energy left sob

spent the past three days or so doing like EXTREME COMPUTER STUFF, i feel so pro except i'm probably not. basically i was just going to do a simple reinstall of windows (again) since it was slow but i accidentally fucked up my whole system so in the end i had to wipe the hdd and do everything from scratch. lost a few things but now everything is nice and clean and new and i just realized AIM CHATROOMS WORK AGAIN HOLY SHIT FINALLY! HOORAY!

freshman welcome last night, tricked into drinking a milkshake made of bananas covered in vinegar, strawberries mixed with tomatoes, two cups of salt labeled sugar, and mayonnaise in a milk carton. i am going to like college fellowship.

oh hey vamps is going to be at nyaf. guess that means i'll definitely be seeing them again. (AND MAYBE GETTING THE OTHER AUTOGRAPH I MISSED FFFFF) speaking of concerts, miyavi on sunday. i still haven't gotten around to actually LISTENING to his music but i'm sure it'll be a fun show anyway hahaha

DONE WITH SENIOR OPTIONS, not going to bother posting the other journals since i bs'd them at like four in the morning and emailed them to ms. earle, so i don't really need to post them, and the whole thing is a bunch of crap anyway;;;

went to urban madness' waterfight this past saturday, MAD MAD FUN. photos are on facebook (which you are all welcome to add me on, by the way) and video is here, bla bla bla bla. went to dinner afterwards with [livejournal.com profile] nanaryuu, [livejournal.com profile] ketsune, and susan. was pretty cold most of the time since i didn't really dry off but food was good and we had cake and i shot everyone with my water gun.

another to do list now that i'm done with everything school-related (graduation tomorrow!):
- reinstall windows (again;;;)
- mix (aria08/oc01), record (krist08)
- art reqs
- sell stuff/save money
- clean desk/room
- look into computers for next year
- domain?

holy shit yesterday was the most amazing day
i love my friends
i love my girlfriend
(i have a girlfriend)
i love everyone

ok first, international day. was supposed to meet up with ms. earle earlier in the day but i woke up late so i ended up getting there about ten minutes before it actually started. had to use the huge bulky camera since my dad took the good one, but it was kind of cool because i had to wear it around my neck and it made me feel totally professional even though it actually sucks. THEY HAD A YO-YO BALLOON FISHING THING THIS YEAR and that made me ridiculously happy since i haven't seen one of those in i don't know how long. rebecca and ruri worked at the gyotaku booth for a bit, though i didn't really hang around there much since it was kind of boring. there was some booth selling like foreign soda which looked like REALLY RETRO and really nasty and rusty but also really cool, so i payed $1 for just the bottle and then dumped out the actual soda since it didn't look sanitary. met with ms. earle briefly to go over senior options stuff, then went to see kyara getting dunked in the senior dunk tank. i had wanted to sign up for it but i forgot, but after hearing kyara shrieking about how cold it was i felt a bit better hahaha.

ben's mom gave us all these idk OGRE MASK THINGS that were really cool looking so we ran around with those for a bit and then rebecca dragged me off, resulting in me officially having a girlfriend kind of. seems like a bit of a regression from having a fiancée, except it's real this time and i actually have a real girlfriend like for real and i don't really know what to think because i don't actually get it? but hey. it's a good thing, right? i guess it doesn't really matter what it entails, but i feel pretty cool so i guess that's good. she's sleeping over sunday night and then we're going to the city with kyara and [livejournal.com profile] nanaryuu, so i'm looking forward to that. we are both total noobs at this so uh it'll probably be kind of extremely awkward but that's ok hahaha idk i'm sure i'll have a lot to say eventually

went home to a computer that no longer runs windows, so i ended up playing around with linux for a bit. using linux makes me feel really cool even though i have no idea what i'm doing. rebecca says i'm now allowed to be a prick about os which i feel like being except i'm still so used to windows and will probably keep using it once it's fixed (though maybe i'll see about slowly moving over)

laramie project at 7:00. it was good. amazing, really. kind of makes me wish i'd done it too, but being able to watch everyone was also a great experience. andre was fantastic. kyara was fantastic. isaac was fantastic. adrian was fantastic. everyone except maybe a few were amazing, and even the subpar actors didn't really ruin anything. there were a lot of people i had either not known could act or had seen in previous roles and thought they couldn't really act but i was really, really impressed with the whole thing and it was fucking ridiculous. also random but i coincidentally found out right before going to see the show that jeremy davies played jedadiah schultz in the movie (which i went and watched today and saw amy madigan as reggie and i was like JAAAAAANE)

grace had called earlier to see if i wanted to watch iron man 2 after the show, so in the end we got ross and kyara and andre and rebecca and grace and we all went to watch it. it was actually not that bad considering the bad reviews i'd heard. it wasn't AMAZING but it was FUN and that's all that i really wanted. we got a shitton of popcorn and it made me feel american. after we finished andre runs up to us and is all THERE'S A SHOWING OF ROBIN HOOD STARTING LIKE RIGHT NOW. LIKE... RIGHT NOW. except grace and i ran in and realized that it had just finished, not just started. we figured we'd stick around and sneak into the next show, but rebecca had to go home so kyandre left to drive her and we were supposed to help them sneak back into the theater when they were back. but then i checked and realized there was no showing of robin hood after this one, so i called them and they said they'd go home. so that left me, ross, and grace, and we decided we didn't want to fucking go home.

so. three high school seniors at 1:00 am in may. fuck you, we're not going to any fucking bars or anything, we're going to fucking PATHMARK. except it closed like two minutes after we got there so in the end we spent about an hour running around in an empty parking lot blasting music and talking about i don't even know what awesome stuff, and WE PROBABLY LOOKED TOTALLY HIGH which is why at one point a police car actually drove over to check on us, except we were only high on life which is legal, i think.

DAY 04 )

have to get a blood test tomorrow and this is freaking me out. gore and death and blood and pain are 5862% ok but having a needle stuck in my arm just FREAKS ME OUT (specifically in the vein -- anywhere else is 935% fine, it's just the vein that bothers me). i mean hopefully having to deal with it will help me get over it, since i haven't had blood drawn in around eight years and it's probably just the traumatizing memory of TRYING TO JUMP OUT THE WINDOW AND BEING PINNED DOWN that doesn't really help. my mom also told me that when i was around four i had to get blood drawn but for some reason it wasn't coming out right so they had to get some kind of instrument to push/SCRAPE MY VEIN and yeah i am really not looking forward to this. were it not for the lasting consequences i'd almost rather cut off my hand and have them get my blood that way I WOULD BE CONSIDERABLY MORE COMFORTABLE WITH THAT.
